Movie Maker Studio Pro 8.0, Desktop Edition, turns a written description into a finished ad, TV show or movie. No crew. No cast. No camera. No permission, and no skill: describing what you want is the whole job.
You start with your own xAI or Google API key, which pays for the clip production, and a short description of what you want to make. We recommend entering both keys, plus an Anthropic key for the lowest price. Movie Maker Studio takes it from there. It shoots the reference images, writes every prompt, generates the clips, assembles them and exports the finished file as MP4, MOV or WebM, at any length up to 150 minutes. Each clip is 10 seconds of reference to video, made from five or more of the production's reference photos, on Grok Imagine Standard: 51 cents a clip at 480p, the least expensive way to make a whole film. With a Google key alone, the clips are made on Google's Gemini Omni Flash.
Describe the piece on one screen. Press Auto-produce. Get a finished, exported ad, TV show or movie. It shoots the reference images, writes every shot prompt, generates the clips, approves them, cuts the timeline, normalizes the audio and exports the file. Every stage surfaces a live progress bar and a running cost meter, so you know what has been done and what is still in flight without going looking for it.
You never face a blank page. You choose instead: story blueprints, each carrying its own story structure, along with genres, themes, ending strategies, character archetypes, historical eras and presets matched to real broadcast and social runtimes. Reference images are what hold the movie together. The same face, the same car and the same room appear in every shot, so continuity becomes a property of the pipeline rather than a lucky accident. Every production goes out on the live web first and researches the subject you entered, so the detail in it is real. An optional stage adds a soundtrack composed for your production, with lyrics written for it.
Prefer to drive it yourself? A seven step manual path stays available at every moment. Edit any prompt, regenerate individual clips, assign specific reference images per shot, and control transitions, audio mix, resolution and quality. Switch between automatic and manual freely, mid-production. Nothing is locked once Auto-produce has run. Finished videos open in the Movie Maker Edit timeline built into the app, so you keep cutting without leaving the product.
An optional review pass puts three independent AI critics on your finished cut. They score it, flag problems shot by shot and hand you rewritten prompts ready to regenerate.
A free browser based edition is there to try before you buy, for shorter ads, TV shows and movies. The difference is parallelism. A browser tab cannot reach your graphics hardware and cannot hold a long timeline in memory, so it generates 6 clips at once and stops at 46 minutes. This Windows edition puts your machine's cores and GPU behind the work, with hardware acceleration on NVIDIA, AMD and Intel graphics, and generates 24 clips at once, which is 24 simultaneous camera setups. Movie Maker Studio - Simple to use - How to create a finished production from an idea
Goal: Describe what you want in a few menus and get back a single finished video file with picture, soundtrack, titles and credits, either automatically or step by step.
Describe your production
Pick a story blueprint, a genre, your themes, an ending strategy, character archetypes, an era, and a running length. Everything is a menu, so there is no blank page to fill in and nothing to write from scratch.
Produce, or take control
Press Produce and steps 3 through 8 run on their own while you watch the progress bar and the cost meter. Prefer to drive it yourself? Work through those same steps by hand instead. Either path can be picked up from the other at any point, so you can let it run and then step in where you want to.
Reference photographs
Your recurring cast, vehicles and locations are photographed first and reused in every shot that includes them. You can choose which reference photos a given shot uses. This is the step that makes a long production look like one piece of work rather than hundreds of unrelated clips.
Script and shot prompts
The script is written from your menu choices, then broken into individual shots, each with its own generation-ready prompt. Edit any prompt you want to change before it is filmed.
Clips
Each shot is filmed and reviewed automatically. Regenerate any clip one at a time until it is what you wanted, without disturbing the rest of it.
Soundtrack and narration
An optional step can have AI write original lyrics and compose music for your ad, TV show or movie, alongside narration and dialogue.

System requirements?
Pro: Windows 10 or 11 (64 bit) and your own xAI or Google API key. A multi core CPU and a GPU help most, and NVIDIA, AMD and Intel acceleration are all supported, but Pro runs on any modern Windows PC. Free Web Edition: any modern browser, no install required.
What do I need besides the app?
Either key on its own, xAI (Grok) or Google (Gemini), is enough to make a complete ad, TV show or movie start to finish. We recommend entering both. Grok researches your subject on the live web, which in our testing it does better than the other models, and Grok Imagine makes Auto-produce's clips. With both, Auto-produce gives the reference photos and the writing to the least expensive model that does them well, and makes the clips on Grok Imagine Standard, the least expensive model that can make a whole film. Google's Gemini Omni Flash is built in on every shot for replacing single clips: Google allows no Omni requests on a free key and 100 a day on Tier 2, for all of a Google project's keys together, about 30 to 50 clips, which is not enough for a film. A Google key also adds the composed soundtrack. An Anthropic key gives the lowest price: Claude Haiku 5.5, the least expensive writer, then writes the shot prompts, and Claude can review your movie.
What does it cost to make one?
Generation costs are billed by the AI provider directly to your account, not by us. Clips are most of it. Auto-produce makes them on Grok Imagine Standard: a 10 second clip with five reference photos costs 51 cents at 480p, the default, so the clips for a 30 second ad come to about $1.55, and 71 cents at 720p. Replacing a single clip on Gemini Omni Flash costs about 36 cents at 360p. Reference photos and the writing add a few cents. Auto-produce shows these prices before you press it, and the cost meter shows your spend as it accrues, so nothing is a surprise. Whatever size the clips are made at, the finished movie exports at 720p by default, scaled up free on your own computer.
How long can they run?
Up to 150 minutes in Pro, so anything from a 30 second ad to a full episode to a feature-length movie. The free Web Edition is made for shorter work.
How do I get the app after buying?

What does it export?
A single finished video file at the resolution and quality you pick, ready to upload or play anywhere.
Where do my files live?

Can I change it after it is produced?
Yes. Regenerate individual clips, rewrite prompts, adjust transitions and audio, and export again. The AI reviews are built to feed straight back into that loop.

- Movie Maker Gemini 5.3. Google's Gemini Omni Flash 1.1 replaces Veo 3.1, which Google shuts down on October 22, 2026: 3 to 10 second clips at 360p to 4K with native sound, on every shot for replacing a single clip. Google rate-limits Gemini on the free tier, Tier 1 and Tier 2, which makes it suitable just for single clips.
- A price table for every clip. Each shot has a price table with a row for 0, 1, and 2 or more reference images, the models that can make the clip, and the cost at each size: the most expensive in green, the least expensive in red and the rest in yellow. In our tests the least expensive made the poorest clips, and one poor clip can spoil a good film. The buttons say what they do: Redo clip with MMC, Redo clip with MMG, and Import clip from your device.
- More accurate reference photos. The research searches the web, its images and X for real pictures of every real subject, people included, and uses them as the reference photos; a picture is generated only when none loads.
- Make clips at 360p or 480p, then upscale them free. The movie exports at 720p by default, or at 1080p or 4K if you choose, scaled up on your own computer by Movie Maker Edit at no cost.
- Gemini and Claude wherever they cost less than Grok. Claude Haiku 5.5 writes the shot prompts for the least, and Gemini Nano Banana 2.1 makes the reference stills for about 3 cents each. Grok does the research and the whole-film clips, where it is the least expensive choice that works.
- A more comprehensive and accurate AI Review of Clips. The reviews look at frames from every shot, up to three a clip and 100 in all, instead of one frame from at most eight shots, and judge the film itself.
- Auto-produce makes whole films on Grok Imagine Standard, the least expensive model that can: 51 cents for a 10 second clip with five reference photos at 480p. It shows what the clips will cost before you press it.

- AI Review of Clips names the clips that came back broken, so you regenerate them before you render. AI Review of Movie scores the finished film and tells you what to fix. Add Captions burns your narration script into the picture in five styles.
- Narration and spoken voice moved to Grok: far more accurate, exact line timings, and five voices that sound like people. These need an API key from Grok or Google, which you supply and pay for directly.
- Soundtrack levelling now happens automatically on every export, so the separate Normalize Audio step is gone.

- Reopening a saved project no longer moves your film. A project remembers the folder it belongs to, so exports and saves land beside your clips instead of in a temporary folder Windows is free to delete.
- Every AI review is written to disk beside the film as a readable file, timestamped so a later run never overwrites an earlier one.
- The API Keys screen names all five features that use a key, what each one does, and what each one costs.
- Vertical and square footage now sets the film's shape at import. Exports are about a third smaller at the same picture quality.

BASIL (2026)
A 2 hour 59 minute movie made from 950 Grok Imagine clips. It takes place in 2026 through 2116 and follows Mira and Amos through ninety years of technological change and how the changes affect them, their friends and their families. Produced in Movie Maker Studio Pro v7.3, the movie was made on an ordinary laptop computer. The story opens on a treatment anyone can walk into a pharmacy in 2026 and ask for, reaches 2073 and the first crossing, when a person is copied into substrate, and ends in the year 2116 when after the discovery of zero-point energy and gravity propulsion enables humanity to reach the stars.
Alternative Dimensions – The Movie (2026)
Believed to be the first full-length feature movie ever made with Grok Imagine clips, assembled and refined in Movie Maker Edit Pro with the soundtrack normalized to a steady, consistent level. It follows one woman across centuries and infinite branches as she enters substrate, becomes a signal sent forward through time, and apprentices with the Jathuun, the genies of humanity's oldest stories, learning to step between worlds by will alone.
